OSCE QUESTIONS AND LEARNING POINTS

OSCE  QUESTIONS:

1.) As the patient is having sarcopenia, but her blood glucose on random blood glucose test is negative for diabetes,Is there any chance her Diabetes can be diagnosed after doing postprandial blood glucose test after 2 hours of her meals?

This may be helpful to diagnose her underlying metabolic syndrome.



2.)As the patient is diagnosed Hypertensive one and half year ago,and not on any medication till now,ther will be a chance of 8ncreased vascular resistance. How to find if her vascular resistance has severely increased or not?


3.)As her renal functions test looks negative to any renal involvement of hypertension,what are the markers for early detection for renal involvement?


4.)As the patient is obese,in order to reduce her obesity,what are the major dietary changes to be done?

5.)As of now she is also having signs of Hypertensive retinopathy,By treating her at what time after diagnosis would have prevented it?


Learning points:

1.) I have seen people who are having underlying hypertension and not on any medication until they were diagnosed accidentally,but today I have learnt that there are still many people who are diagnosed but not on any treatment.


2.) I have learnt that cystatin-c is the early marker of renal failure,so that treatment can be started early.

3.) I have learnt how screening among a population can be helpful for the diagnosis of hypertension and other lifestyle diseases and preventing from the related complications.
